Li-Fi TECHNOLOGY

Hey guys!!
I am again active to acquaint you all about the latest fabulous discovery in the internet world.......
We all aspire to get high speed connectivity !!
So now a days, Wi-fi is popularly used to get the high speed connectivity.
Another such technology called Li-fi is discovered to provide high speed connectivity to the users.

WHAT IS Li-Fi??

Li-Fi stands for LIGHT FIDELITY that uses electromagnet visible rays to transfer data.
It is a Visible Light Communication system running wireless communications travelling at very high speeds.
It uses common LED (Light Emitting Diodes) bulbs to enable data transfer and increasing the speed up to 224 gigabits per second.
These light bulbs are acting as wireless routers.

HOW Li-Fi WORKS??

It transmits data electromagnetically but using visible rays (Wi-Fi uses radio ways).
It is created by fitting two devices :-
  • a photo-detector called photo-diodes to receive signals, and
  • a signal processing element to convert it into beam of signals called "stream-able"content.
A constant current of electricity is needed to be supplied to the LED  which is switched on and off at very high rates which is not noticed by a human eye.
These rapid changes in diming of LEDs is gathered by the in-built receiver and converted into the electrical signals.
Then, these signals are converted into a binary data stream that is recognized as web, audio or video applications that are run on internet enabled devices.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN Wi-Fi AND Li-Fi.

Unlike Wi-Fi, Li-Fi uses visible rays instead of radio waves.

Signals of Li-Fi can't pass through the walls of the room but signals of Wi-Fi can do so.
Thus, Band width of Li-Fi is much smaller than Wi-Fi but due to short range ,it is much secured by the attacks of hackers and spywares and malwares.

To establish Li-Fi, constant glowing of LEDs is required even in day hours which can consume high units of electricity.
And establishing Li-Fi in public areas can be costly......but Wi-Fi can be easily set up at public areas.

And yes..........Reflected light beams by the walls of the room achieves the speed of 70 megabits per second.

Its a highly impressive technology.
I hope that you all get acquainted with this technology.
See you all in my next article.
Till then......bye bye
